Who are Them Heels?
Our lead guitar player, Justin, is a DJ, life long musician, and legendary punk rocker from Bay City, MI. Spending most of his time in the studio with his projects, Justin Edward is the founding member of Them Heels and an onstage force of nature. Fun-loving and unpredictable, when it comes time to perform he prefers to lay the stage to waste. Don't look away.
Singer/guitarist Jess Deal brings a stylishly androgynous edge to Them Heels. Contributing soaring harmonies and relentless riffs to the mix, the California native draws inspiration from various sources, including the sun, dimly lit cocktail lounges, and nocturnal celestial journeys.
Our front ma’am, Angela, does not consider herself a musician, but a poet who can sing and act a fool on stage. Hailing from a military background and being a gifted child before they had a place for them, no where was home except the stage. From dance to singing to theatre to stage makeup, it was tackled as much as could be. Angela likes to sing, write, and dance on the edge of life with people she loves. There’s nowhere else she’d rather be.
Our stick man, John, is from California so he tends to call everything and everyone “dude” He’s a veteran of many San Francisco and Detroit area, bands, and has played everything from fusion to country to sludge metal. As a multi-instrumentalist, he also has his own groove-fusion project called Pajama Phantom. He lives in Metro Detroit. Dude.
Our bass player, James, who's been a Jypsy all his life, has settled down with his bandmates. Quote: “I came to jam!” James grew up thinking that English was a 2nd language and that music was the 1st. He says “I literally have to shut my eyes to understand what words mean. I live in the chords of our melodies.”
